Overview
Matt Blubaugh has a deep understanding of the construction industry stemming from his educational background in construction management and architectural engineering, which has served him throughout his legal career working with commercial contractors, developers and other construction professionals to navigate disputes.
Matt works with clients on developing strategies and guidelines to avoid potential disputes, addressing and resolving disputes as they arise on a project, and accompanying clients through litigation and arbitration proceedings. To be successful in these endeavors, Matt spends time getting to know his clients’ values and priorities in order to achieve the best result for each particular client. Matt’s dedication to serving his clients has garnered recognition in various industry publications. While based in Dallas, Matt is also licensed in Colorado and Minnesota and has experience working on projects nationwide.
Outside of the office, Matt enjoys spending time with his family, reading, weight-training, hiking, playing pickleball, and following his favorite Colorado sports teams.
- Represented general contractor in lawsuit against owner, design professionals, and multiple subcontractors involving claims of project mismanagement, delays, and defective design and construction of a commercial building.
- Represented developer in lawsuit with builder and neighboring property owner regarding property damage resulting from excavation activities.
- Obtained favorable resolution for environmental engineering firm in dispute regarding erosion and run off at photovoltaic power station.
- Represented general contractor in dispute involving terminated subcontractor on wastewater treatment plant project.
- Negotiated settlement between over 20 parties regarding defective construction of townhome and condominium complex.
- Assisted specialty demolition contractor in obtaining payment on public bridge project despite significant delays and cost overruns.
- Represented seller in lawsuit regarding disclosure of adverse property condition.
- Drafted and negotiated GC agreements, EPC agreements, design services agreements, subcontract agreements, supplier agreements, and other project-related instruments for clients.
